A live orchestra was chosen to match the theme of the piece, which is a hymn to life.
This sequel is set two years after the 1981 anime film "Galaxy Express 999." It includes the ending theme "Sayonara" sung by American singer Mary McGregor, the masterpieces "Reunion ~Love Theme~" and "Illusion of Youth," which show off the original talents of Osamu Higashiumebayashi.
