A blues and soul gem born in the South
This is Boz Scaggs' second solo album, recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios after leaving the Steve Miller Band.
A blend of R&B, blues, and country permeates the album. The bluesy track "Lawn Me a Dime," with its slide guitar slicing through the air, is a highlight. Boz's vocals, both viscous and refined, trade energy with the horn section and organ. From soulful ballads to funky tracks, he demonstrates his deep understanding of roots music and his talent for elevating it to pop.
