This is a fresh yet solid debut album from Black Cats, a band born out of Harajuku's 50's fashion hub.
Cream Soda Presents is the debut studio album from Black Cats, a band formed by staff at the fashion shop CREAM SODA, a pioneer of Harajuku culture. The album features a balanced mix of original and cover songs, set against a light, upbeat beat that reflects rockabilly and rock 'n' roll. Three of the 14 original tracks are covers, while the band also features original compositions with the likes of Teruyoshi Higashiyama and Yoshiko Kurebayashi. Marked by classic performances such as "Genie, Genie, Genie," "Summertime Blues," and "Rock 'n' Roll Band," the band made a distinctive presence in the early '80s scene. The first pressing also includes a thoughtful obi, lyric sheet, and fan club application form. This album has earned its value as the "beginning of a legend" that continues to garner enthusiastic support to this day.
