This is a masterpiece album that was completed despite being produced amidst a series of disasters.
Paul McCartney % Wings' third album, released in 1973, was credited to Wings. It reached number one in the UK and US, and sold over 6 million copies worldwide. "Jet" and the title track "Band on the Run" were later re-cut as singles.
The recording of this album was beset by a series of misfortunes, including "members leaving the band," "the recording studio that was supposed to be complete was left unfinished," "their demo tapes and notes with lyrics were stolen," and "a power outage caused by heavy rain during recording." The result that was born from such misfortune is a masterpiece.
