This is an essential piece when talking about the history of jazz.
The 4th album released by Prestige. An edited version of the two 10-inch LPs originally recorded in 1954, with two alternate takes added.
The title track "Bags' Groove" has two takes from a session on December 24, 1954. TAKE 1 was included on "Miles Davis All Stars, Vol.1." Incidentally, "Bags" is the nickname of vibraphonist Milt Jackson. "Oleo" was written by Sonny Rollins, but Miles used the "Harmon mute" on this song, which later became one of his signature playing styles.
