The origin of the ska sound, which sings of freedom and liberation, was established by the Skatalites.
This memorable single by the Skatalites, representatives of Jamaican ska music, features two different takes of the same song, "Freedom Sounds," on both sides, creating a unique composition that fully captures the improvisational and dynamic energy of ska music. The brass ensemble, led by trombone player Don Drummond and saxophonist Roland Alphonso, creates a historic recording that laid the foundation for later reggae music.
