It was recorded at Boston's Symphony Hall on January 24th and 26th, 1981, and released on the Telarc label.
Serkin's powerful yet sensitive piano playing and Ozawa's precise and passionate conducting are a perfect blend, bringing out the grand scale and deep expressiveness of Beethoven's "Emperor" together with the rich tone of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
