『ウマグマ』は、ライヴ録音とメンバー各人によるソロ作品を収めた二枚組というユニークな構成で知られる。ライヴでは「アストロノミー・ドミネ」「ケアフル・ウィズ・ザット・アックス、ユージーン」など初期フロイドの混沌と陶酔を体感でき、スタジオ面では前衛的な実験が繰り広げられる。後の『原子心母』『狂気』へ至る道程を示す重要作。
