The fourth and most important work in the transition period of JAPAN's first transfer to Virgin.
Includes "Taking Islands In Africa," a collaboration with YMO's Ryuichi Sakamoto, and "Nightporter," inspired by Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie."
This work established a unique band sound with an intellectual air, pursuing the European aestheticism of the previous work and steering towards ambient rock. It is a highly acclaimed work that shifted from easy-to-understand to abstract, and around 2020, the mood of reevaluation has been on the rise again.
