Moonriders' ninth album, Amateur Academy, released in 1984 and renowned as both a masterpiece and a controversial work, is being reborn as a 40th anniversary edition!

The CD includes four bonus tracks, and the set also includes a DVD with additional footage from the legendary Shibuya Kokaido concert that took place the same year as the release, making it a must-have for fans!

Celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2026, Moonriders, a treasure of Japanese rock and pop music, have reissued this legendary album (cover photo by Kaoru Ijima), a representative of the turbulent '80s, for the first time in 40 years on a deluxe expanded edition. This is the only album in their history to feature Shigeki Miyata, an A&R representative at their then-record company (RVC/Dear Heart), as an external producer. It's considered the band's most controversial album, with numerous anecdotes surrounding its production, including all track titles coded (using English abbreviations and numbers), 500 hours of studio time, a week spent creating bass drum sounds, and the simultaneous use of three studios. The album also features many popular tracks, such as "30 (30 Age)" and "Go a Picnic (Let's Hurry Up and Go to a Picnic)," that are still frequently performed live, prompting calls for a reissue. This 40th anniversary edition features bonus tracks on Disc 1 (CD), featuring four selected singles and alternate takes previously released on previous reissues. Disc 2 (DVD) features four tracks from the legendary live performance held at Shibuya Public Hall on July 14, 1984, to coincide with the album's release. While this album has been reissued four times in the past, this 40th anniversary edition features the legendary color jacket from the early days of CDs (the LP was black and white, while the CD and cassette were color) in the booklet for the first time in 40 years. This is a fitting item to celebrate the milestone of this unique and enduring masterpiece, a must-have for enthusiasts!
