The pinnacle of spiritual jazz! Tenor sax giant Clifford Jordan's masterpiece "In The World" for the prestigious Strata-East label is reborn in a new look on 45 rpm/2 LP!
The pinnacle of spiritual jazz, whose insane sadness, sensuality, and lyricism continue to exude a rare charm even today!
Clifford Jordan, a giant of tenor saxophone, was born in Chicago in 1931 and continued to express the essence of hard bop until his death in March 1993. This legendary album, renowned as his greatest masterpiece and a monumental milestone in modern jazz history, has been reissued in a new look as a 45 rpm 2-LP set. This album, which debuted with Blue Note in the late 50s, passed through the turbulent 60s, and was recorded at his own expense in the spring of 1969, just as he was approaching his peak in the 70s, was released in 1972 by Strata East as the first of the "Dolphy Series" produced by Jordan. The highlight is the masterpiece "VIENNA" (A1), in which Jordan, Don Cherry, and Wynton Kelly play an ecstatic daydream over minor-key melodies and a brooding waltz beat.
