This album is like an electronic poetry collection, where you can find words of quiet encouragement in the gaps between the sounds.
A musical prescription for "self-care" woven by the quiet soul of YMO, Yukihiro Takahashi. Starting with the murmur of the subdued introductory track "What, Me Worry?", the album continues with a fluctuating emotional response on the Ryuichi Sakamoto track "Flashback," a breeze of exoticism on the Bill Nelson-co-written instrumental "My Highland Home in Thailand," and concludes with a cover of "It's All Too Much" as a tribute to George Harrison. A balanced intersection of Japanese and Western sensibilities, the album's world, which originates from Takahashi himself, is softly yet quietly defined and reaches deep into the heart. The deliberate pauses in his choice of words, blending English and Japanese, are also evident. The album's steady success on the LP charts upon its release is proof that this quiet movement was spreading like a small wave.
