JAZZ IS DEAD, currently one of the most talked-about acts in the LA underground and jazz scenes, has released the tenth and final installment of its second series.
The finale of the second series will be a collection of remixes in which cutting edge artists and producers add their own unique touch to the JAZZ IS DEAD sound!
The album kicks off with Mofono's more percussive reimagining of the traditional Afrobeat pattern of Tony Allen's "Don't Believe the Dancers." On Jean Carn's "Black Rainbows," featuring vocals from Lauren Oden, Melanie Charles delivers a refreshing ode to Blackness, preserving the original's fantastical sound. On Henry Franklin's "African Sun," Shabaka Hutchings (Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming) further deepens this cultural fusion, creating a powerful sound that mimics the rising and setting of the sun.
