This was their first major album, released in 1989 by (then) BMG Victor, and featured numerous guests, including international artists such as John Zorn and Hamza El Din.
Some of the recording and mixing was done in Paris, with Godwin Roggie (Aswad, King Sunny Ade, etc.) as the mixing engineer. Musically, the album is colorful and gorgeous, incorporating elements of calypso, hip hop, and folk, but there is also a hint of the band's later downfall.
JAGATARA is a legendary band with a unique presence in the history of Japanese rock music, featuring the unparalleled vocalist Akemi Edo. In January 2020, 30 years after Akemi's sudden death, the surviving members came together as "Jagatara2020" to release new songs and hold a comeback concert featuring a stellar cast of guests, which garnered a huge response and demonstrated their enduring presence and influence across generations. In response to this popularity, they have decided to reissue the JAGATARA original album, which is currently extremely difficult to obtain, on vinyl!
