This is the only solo album by Cecil Ride, a Chicago soul singer who is loved by soul enthusiasts around the world, and is a masterpiece that is highly regarded as the pinnacle of Early 80s modern soul/boogie!
After working with big name artists such as Curtis Mayfield, The Chi-Lights, and Gene Chandler in his hometown of Chicago, Cecil Ride moved to LA and released this lone solo album in 1980 as a new challenge.
Starting with the title track "Stone Free," which features groovy intertwining instruments and a sexy vocal that combines a mature, dandy voice with a sexy falsetto, the refreshing melody of the 80s modern A2 "I'm So Glad I Found Your Love" and B1 "Money's Funny" are gems that you won't find anywhere else. Furthermore, songs such as the funk tune A3 "More Love" with its roaring synths and bass, and the last song "Funk Is Here To Stay" will surely appeal to funk fans. The original version is a legendary piece that will be passed down as a collector's item!
