This is the first archive release that follows the bizarre works of Henry Kawahara, a musician who was active in the underground currents of Japanese cyber occultism and media art in the early 1990s, and has stunned the world as being "groundbreaking."
Almost all of the songs on this compilation are favorite versions of the composer and unreleased songs, and the CD version comes with two bonus discs, making it a three-disc set.
This outsider artist, who released a prolific body of work in the early '90s before disappearing from the public eye, is examined through a contribution by Keisuke Oki, with whom he collaborated in media art, and an interview with Takamoto Takeda, the owner of Yahata Bookstore and a fixture in Japan's occult world, who boldly promoted his work (with commentary by Yukinori Emura). The tracks selected by Henry Kawahara during his lifetime range from provocative and experimental pieces to those incorporating Southeast Asian music, cyber-infused ambient pieces, and spiritual piano pieces, all of which hint at an occult spirit as a counter to the mysterious intertwining of the spiritual world and technology.
