This is a richly satisfying recording by leading French organist Marie-Clayre Alain, who tackles Bach's diverse works. She accurately separates the colorful stops of the historic Clicquot-Gonzalez organ, clearly depicting complex counterpoint. In the opening "Concerto in G Major," the light manuals and the heavy pedals vividly interact, creating a reverberation reminiscent of the spaciousness of a hall. Her refined interpretation, avoiding excessive ornamentation, and the recording's deep reverberation, characteristic of Erato, quietly highlight the spirituality of the work.
