事実上、最後の作品となった大ヒットアルバム。
1970年にリリースされた5ｔｈ.アルバム。タイトル曲『Bridge Over Troubled Water／明日に架ける橋』、『El Condor Pasa／コンドルは飛んで行く』などを収録した全11曲。
本作で事実上解散となった作品だが、グラミー賞において最優秀アルバム賞と最優秀録音賞を獲得。タイトル曲はシングルリリースもされ、こちらも受賞し、計6部門受賞となった。この盤の音源は4つのスピーカーによる立体的な音響効果を得られる、4ch Quadraphonicで収録されている。
