The ninth album, released in 1981, contains eight songs, including "Oh No," which reached number four on the US singles chart, and "Lady (You Bring Me Up)," which reached number eight.
Originally a funk band, the Commodores gradually became more interested in pop music. This was the last album with Lionel Richie, who went solo the following year. The fifth track, "Why You Wanna Try Me," and the eighth track, "Lucy," were re-released as singles only in the UK.
