アルトのトーンは円熟味を増し、リリカルでありながら強靭なフレージングを聴かせる。Pepperはテンションを抑えつつもフレーズの抑揚で感情を描き、聴き手を引き込む。“Blues For Blanche”などでは即興のスリルと人間的な温かさが共存。バンドのまとまりも高く、彼の晩年を象徴する感情表現の頂点が記録されている。
