Comfortable hard bop with gorgeous brass instruments
This recording is by a sextet led by drummer Dave Bailey, and features powerful members such as Clark Terry (trumpet) and Curtis Fuller (trombone).
The rich, three-horn ensemble (trumpet, trombone, and tenor saxophone) enriches the sound of this album. Bailey's drums provide a stable swing without being overbearing, creating an environment in which each soloist can play in a relaxed manner. The songs, which combine a bluesy feel with sophisticated harmonies, are a classic example of hard bop. The solid talent of all members supports the high level of quality of the album.
