ビートルズの名曲が、新たな声で生まれ変わる
映画「アイ・アム・サム」のサウンドトラック盤。全編がビートルズの楽曲のカバーで構成されており、多様なアーティストが独自の解釈を寄せている。
作品の核となるのは、原曲への敬意と、各アーティストの個性の両立である。エイミー・マンによる「トゥ・オブ・アス」は、アコースティックな質感で内省的な側面を強調する。一方で、ザ・ブラック・クロウズが演奏する「ルーシー・イン・ザ・スカイ・ウィズ・ダイアモンズ」は、サイケデリックなロック色を前面に出す。サラ・マクラクランやルーファス・ウェインライトらも参加し、世代やジャンルを超えた解釈が集まることで、名曲の普遍性を改めて浮き彫りにする。
