A symbol of the female image that Japan's music industry is proud of
Jun Mayuzumi sings about the duality of freedom and prayer.
The 7-inch single "Statue of Liberty/For Whom Do You Pray?" is one of her signature works from 1970. Mayuzumi's powerful vocals reflect the atmosphere of the women's liberation movement at the time. "Statue of Liberty" on the A-side is a loud song about independence, while "For Whom Do You Pray?" on the B-side is a contrasting song of quiet prayer.
